The Killing Review

If you enjoy suspense, iced drama, and engrossing twists, then The Killing is for you.  Set in Seattle, this four season series takes you one one intense spin.  Linden’s vigorous behavior coupled with Holder’s snap, are a good pairing as opposites do attract.  Each has their own demons that aid in propelling the intensity of the stories.

Seasons one and two timeline the shocking murder of Rosie that swirls around her secrets.  Greed, corruption, and prostitution are the component stakes of the investigative dance that twists and turns to catch the real killer.  I never saw it coming, and I’m willing to bet neither will you.

Season three backtracks to a previous case that Linden thought was solved, The Pied Piper Killer. Holder learns that with trust comes doubt.  Linden’s attempts to absolve a guilty man are just that, and leads her back into the arms of her former lover Skinner.  However, it’s the sighting of  Kallies’ ring that unleashes Linden’s mess.

Season four introduces a new murder that triads abandonment, love, and acceptance.  As Stansbury desperately tries to remember that night, his darkest hell proliferates.  Along with it comes a trail of dead naiveté. Completing the story, Reddick chances on Kallie’s ring to uncover Skinner’s truth that wraps up season three’s 360 twist.

Could the series have continued? Probably; but then again, the ending did a good job of restoring Holders trust as well as causing Linden to figure out that running is not the answer.  All in all, I rate The Killing ★★★.
